You have many possibilities to start a home business online, and email marketing is no doubt a good alternative. With the speed and ease of online communication, e-mail marketing has become a golden opportunity for businesses large and small. If you are serious about your home business, this isn't a trend you can afford to miss out on. What is Email Marketing? Email marketing is simply marketing through the use of email. The long version of this definition is that email marketing is the system involved in sending out links to sales letters, websites or newsletters to customers via email. Email marketing generally involves an entire campaign and requires sign up to avoid spam. A double sign up confirmation (sign up on the page, then confirm in an auto responder email) is the best method. Even then, you still need to include a statement at the top of the email reminding the recipient that they signed up for your email. You should also include an unsubscribe link at the bottom of each email. 1-Build a List It is important to do this because when you have created your campaign, you need people to send it to. Your web page needs to grab their interest, make them curious and get them to click that button. You need to be gently persuasive and have a professional looking page to gain their trust. It is a good idea to offer a free ebook, report or course to make them feel they are getting something valuable for free. This material obviously has to be relevant to the topic. Bullet points work well and a box clearly indicating what they will get a free ebook, report or whatever when they join the mailing list.: "enter your name and email address below to get your free 5 day email course". 2-Write Your Campaign Once you have drawn them in then you need to do some great writing in your email campaign to keep their interest and to remind them of what you are offering. You want to make it as if you were sitting with them at lunch or talking over coffee, making them comfortable with you and your product or service offer. You want to be on the persuasive side, convincing them that you have what they want and need at your site and it is the best that is out there. 3-Give 'em a treat If you offer them a free gift, this can help greatly. Perhaps, offer something for free with their first purchase or with their third. A free gift with their first buy encourages them to buy something in the first place. A free gift with a later purchase rewards their loyalty and repeat business. 4-Wait You should wait at least a few days after the customer’s first purchase and then email again to tell them about another promotion you are doing. Then send out an email highlighting another special offer or offering a special deal. 5-Remind them special events You can also remind your customers special dates: a week before Valentine's Day, you can ask whether or not your customers remembered to get something for that special someone, and offer them a link to visit a special offer in your site. Conclusion Once you build your list up to 400, 600 or even 1000 candidates, you can pretty much just sit back and watch the orders come rolling in. In the email marketing business, timing is everything, so make sure that you have your emails spaced out just far enough so you do not flood your prospects but don’t be so shy that they forget about you and your product.
